Phila Slade
Phila Slade and her husband Dick moved to North Andover in 1958 where upon, "Ted Leland swept us into the Historical Society and Improvement Society almost before we moved in. I was a member of the NAHS when the membership voted to give the Common to the town. (and) I will say that I inherited a deep interest in history, especially local, wherever I happen to be, from my parents."
A woman of terrific energy, civic engagement and pride in our community, Phila has made a significant impact in the preservation of our history, landscape, and the beautification of our community. Phila's contributions include:
North Andover Historical Society

Parson Barnard House Garden Restoration Grant
North Andover Improvement Society President
Initiated North Andover Common Plant Identification
Organized restoration and continued maintenance of Memorial Park
Responsible for the Application for National Register of Historic Places for Tavern Acres including the Stevens Library, Memorial Park and 20 houses
Helped found and fold into the Improvement Society the Friends of North Andover Trails and Friends of Memorial Park
