“Yours Affectionately, Osgood”

A lecture by Sarah Burrows

Author Sarah Burrows will discuss her personal journey with the extensive letter collection written by her great-great grandfather, Colonel Osgood Vose Tracy, during his service in the American Civil War. Tracy’s local ancestral roots ran deep. His mother, Sarah Vose Osgood, was born and raised in Andover (today N. Andover), his grandfather, Colonel Joseph Vose, led the 1st Massachusetts Regiment in the Revolutionary War, and his 6x great grandfather, Captain John Osgood, was a founding member of town. In her talk, Burrows will share Tracy’s experiences and perspective on politics during the Civil War from her new book: “Yours Affectionately, Osgood: Colonel Osgood Vose Tracy's Letters Home from the Civil War, 1862-1865.”
